YCCC Now Offers Lodging to Full-Time Students

Our lodging is located in the Hampton Inn & Suites right here in Wells, known as “the friendliest town in Maine.” It is just a short walk away from the beach with plenty of access to coastal town businesses and fantastic restaurants.

Forty-nine+ beds will be available in fully furnished rooms, with additional amenities on-site for YCCC students in lodging such as weekly housekeeping as well as pool, and fitness center access. The double bedrooms feature queen-sized beds, free wifi, television, mini-fridge, microwave, laundry facilities, and private full bathrooms. Members of the college staff will be there to guide and assist you.

The lodging community at YCCC offers an innovative take on community life, with the benefit of a unique and inclusive living opportunity. As involved members of the community, students will get to share similar goals and interests all whilst broadening friendships and experiences. YCCC students in lodging will get support and build community with other students and staff through engaging programs and events.

Are Meals Included?

YES, 12 meals per week at the YCCC Cafe plus everyday breakfast at the hotel are included. A hot continental breakfast is available seven days a week from 6 am – 10 am at the Hampton Inn & Suites. Lunch and dinner will be provided through our on-campus dining hall with both eat-in and take-away options.

How Much Does It Cost?

In-State/Out-of-State (Includes Housing and Meals) = $12,309.00 Once your housing application has been accepted and approved, there is a $100 deposit required to hold your space.

Who Can Apply?

The below basic requirements MUST be met in order for students to be selected for lodging and continue to stay throughout the academic semesters. Applicants must:

  • be a matriculated (enrolled) student in a YCCC academic degree program.
  • be enrolled as a full-time student (defined as taking a minimum of 12 academic credits per semester in both the fall and spring semesters) in any academic program and making satisfactory progress toward a degree. Students carrying less than 12 credits per semester may appeal to live in YCCC lodging.
  • be enrolled in at least nine credits of in–person and on–campus courses. Exemptions will be made based on course availability.
  • maintain a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0. Students who fall below the 2.0 cumulative GPA may appeal to live in YCCC residential space. This appeal must be in writing and needs to contain a plan for future academic success.
  • ensure there are no academic, financial, or health requirements holds on their accounts. In the case of a financial hold, students must work with the YCCC Business Office to complete payment or make an appropriate payment plan.

  • How do I apply for lodging?
  • Do I have to be a full-time student to live on campus?
    • You must be enrolled in 12 credits to be considered a full-time student to live on campus. (Any exceptions must be approved by the Office of the Dean of Students.)
  • What is your policy on alcohol and drugs/smoking?
    • The Maine Community College System Code of Conduct applies to all students at YCCC. The Code prohibits alcohol and drugs on campus, including in the residence halls, regardless of a student’s age. The Code also prohibits students from being on campus while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, regardless of a student’s age, and from being knowingly in the presence of alcohol or drugs. In addition, the Residence Hall Agreement prohibits any alcohol or drug containers, even if they are empty. Students who violate these policies are subject to sanctions for violating this portion of the Residence Hall Agreement and/or charges under the Student Code of Conduct. Students are responsible for and can also be charged for conduct violations and/or violations of the Residence Hall Agreement due to the behavior of their guests. Sanctions vary depending on the circumstances surrounding a particular violation but can be punitive (fines assessed to the student account) and/or educational (papers, community service). Violations of the Residence Hall Agreement or the Student Code of Conduct can lead to dismissal from the residence halls and/or the College.
  • How do I submit my immunizations to the college?
    • Housing applicants must submit proof of two measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccinations and a current diphtheria/tetanus shot (one within the past 10 years) to vaccines@hengtaide.com prior to submitting a Housing Application Packet.  Please do not send them with your housing application packet. If you have questions regarding immunization processing, please contact vaccines@hengtaide.com

Room Assignments and Moving In

  • Does everyone have a roommate?
    • Yes, each room is a double space with two queen beds. Each bedroom has one private bathroom shared between the two.
  • How is a roommate chosen for me? Can I choose my own roommate?
    • There is a questionnaire provided in the lodging application, it is designed to aid us in assigning compatible roommates. You should be as honest as possible when answering the questions, this is our go to matching tool.
  • When will I find out about my room assignment?
    • Academic year room assignments are emailed beginning in August.
  • I need a quiet place to study, where can I study at the hotel/campus?
    • There are many places on campus to study, the Student Success Commons hosts many spaces including the library. Along with a meeting space that Hampton Inn offers for quiet area to study.
  • How do I get mail and packages?
    • Mail will be delivered to the YCCC Campus in Wells, Maine.
    • Mail should be sent to :Student’s Name” c/o YCCC, 112 College Drive, Wells, Maine 040490.
  • What happens if I have an issue with my roommate? How can I get a room change?
    • A room agreement will be put into place which clarifies roommates’ expectations of each other. If said agreement has been broken, the Director will mediate conversations. We do realize that some issues may come to the conclusion of a room change, the issues involving a room change will be considered. It is very dependent on available spaces.
  • I have a disability and need a single room or an accessible room as an accommodation. What should I do?
  • Are pets allowed?
    • Service and support animals are permitted with appropriate required documentation.  Further questions can be directed to resident Director at reslife@hengtaide.com
  • Is there a curfew?
    • No, there is no curfew but quiet hours will be place to make sure that everyone is aware of others class schedules.
  • When do the halls close for vacations/break?
    • Halls will be closed during breaks, check out is December 17th, check back into housing is January 16th.  Residents last day for summer check out is May 13th. Housing does not stay open during these specified times.
  • What is a RA, and how can they help me? how do I become one?
    • YCCC lodging is staffed by two Resident Advisors (RA), these are full-time students who are employed by the college. The RA’s will be able to help with any questions you may have and help ensure that you feel a part of the community. They also hold events/programs to bring everyone together, these events vary from board games to paint nights, and many more fun activities! Go to the housing website to learn more about becoming a part of the Residence Life team!
  • Who can help me with problems or questions when they arise?
    • Along with the RA’s, the Director of Lodging is a professional staff member who will also reside in the hotel. The Director is there to uphold policies and create a safe and cohesive community.
  • Why does my RA have floor meetings and programs? Do I have to go to them?
    • Floor meetings are highly encouraged and are in place to discuss and plan how everyone works and respects the community. Programs on the other hand are fun and educational ways to have residents get out of their room and meet some new people!
  • Can I ship some of my personal items ahead of time?
    • We ask that you please not ship any items before you arrive.
  • Do rooms have cable TV and internet service?
    • Hampton Inn does in fact offer TV and internet service.
  • What items should I NOT bring to the Residence Halls?
    • Residents may not bring their own refrigerators or microwaves. A micro-fridge is provided in every room for the residents to share with their roommate(s). The micro-fridge is a combination of a fridge, freezer and a microwave.
  • Hampton Inn and Suites has a pool, is there 24-hour access?
    • Residents will be required to sign in for access to the hotel pool, along with set times and number of people being accounted for.

Pricing, Billing, Contract and Withdrawals

  • What if I want to move out after the fall semester?
    • Giving a notice of departure is needed from those not wishing to stay for the full academic year.
  • How do I pay for housing at Hampton Inn and Suites?
    • Lodging may be off campus, but billing will still be going through your student account at York County Community College.

Facilities and Amenities

  • Are there laundry facilities in the building? What are other options?
    • There are limited laundry facilities at the Hampton Inn, however there is a 24hr laundry mat right across the street.
  • What kinds of housekeeping services are provided?
    • Students will be responsible for taking out their own trash and keeping their rooms to living standards. Housekeeping will only clean the bathrooms once a week. All other cleaning responsibilities are the students. They will not be changing sheets and towels, residents are to provide their own sheets, towels, and shower curtains.
  • Who do I speak to if I need accommodations to live in lodging?
  • What options are available for fitness and exercise?
    • The hotel has a small fitness center on site that will be open to residents, however there is potential of construction starting the fall semester.
  • Is there storage available?
    • No storage is available currently, there is self-storage close to campus.

Goods and Services

  • Is there a dining facility at the hotel?
    • There is a hot continental breakfast everyday provided by the hotel. Along with additional food being brought in through programming from Residence Life.
  • Where can I purchase groceries and other essentials?
    • There will be shuttle runs to accommodate those who do not have access to a vehicle for runs to the store. Luckily, there is a Hannaford’s right across the street from the hotel.
  • Is there a take home food option from YCCC café?
    • There will be take home prepared meals for residence provided by the YCCC Café.

Parking and Transportation

  • Can anyone bring a car to campus? Will there be a fee?
    • There is available parking at the Hampton Inn and at the YCCC campus, both in which will have no additional fees.
  • Is there a way to travel to campus without my own car?
    • A scheduled shuttle will be provided by YCCC to help residents travel back and forth from campus. With additional scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs to nearby grocery stores.
  • If I ride my bike, where can I safely keep it?
    • Bikes have to be kept in ones room for safe keeping.
